Suspended sentences for operators of French piracy site Liberty Land
The operators of a French piracy website Liberty Land have received suspended sentences of up to six months. Somewhat less severe than the two year prison sentence recently handed to the former operator of one-time French piracy set-up Streamiz.

EU calls drinks industry to action for counterfeit and piracy watch-list
The European Commission has asked drinks companies for their comments on a planned ‘Counterfeit and Piracy watch-list’, designed to identify non-European Union online and physical trading areas that commonly allow the sale of counterfeit, pirated and smuggled goods.

President Donald Trump is crafting a way to combat intellectual property theft by China and protect U.S. shows such as HBO’s “Game of Thrones” from being pirated online. The HBO hit series has taken the crown as the most pirated TV show on the internet for the sixth year in a row. According to the Motion Picture Association of America, 90% of the viewership of U.S. movies in China is illegal.

German software company Bitmanagement is asking the US Court of Federal Claims for a partial summary judgment against the US Government. According to the software vendor, it’s undisputed that the Navy installed its software on hundreds of thousands of computers without permission, infringing its copyright.
